Just today I found something else that is amazing. If you rub a few drops of tea tree oil on your neck and chest it is so much better then any other Vapour rub on the market. Even though all this helps the best thing is always rest and drinking lots of fluids.

Past few days sick
So the last few days I have been fighting a cold. I try not to take any medication so my body doesn't get used to antibiotics. Though when I get sick I will have honey. It is one of the only things that really help when I have a sore throat.
Vegan Cuts
I love my Vegan Cuts snack and beauty boxes! Every month new treats are sent to me and I get to try products I normally wouldn't have before. Snapea Crisps have become a favorite of mine. I am super excited to try the Michy's pumpkin chocolate cookie and the cinnamon Chick PZ.
The beauty box is another amazing product they have. They send full size, and testers. I have found and continued to buy some of the products I have gotten because they are that great.
Basically if you aren't subscribed to these boxes you should be! It's like Christmas comes every month. Each box is only $20 free shipping to the US and $5 to Canada.

Sick Vegans
I very rarely get sick now a days but when I do (like today) it's couch time, movies and a liquid pharmacy to the rescue. Tea is a must have all day as is a big jug of water. A shot of wheatgrass if I need energy, a green juice to help my immune system. I can't forget soup, on days like today I could live off of soup. All of this and lots of rest and you can beat a cold of really fast. Stay healthy everyone

Why I had made the decision to stop eating animals
This has to be the all out question I receive the most from family, friends, co-workers etc. Everyone always wants to know your reasons, some will try to change your opinion. In the long run your reasons are just that yours it is a personal choice that you make, and shouldn't matter to anyone else.
My reasons tend to change over the years and the new facts that come up all the time. For me it started off simple I was over weight, 100lbs over weight. So at that point I decided I needed to make a change. My family background is Italian and French so meat was a huge factor in my diet growing up. I was the type of child who would eat meat and carbs mainly, I really don't think I ate many vegetables aside from salad.
When I finally got sick of the way I felt and looked the first thing to go was red meat, I started to eat only tuna and chicken. Then the chicken came out of my diet because I started to get sick of the smell. This probably has to due with the fact my grandparents had a small family farm when were younger. They had chickens and a few turkeys, they pretty much lived off of what they grew and raised like they had done in Italy. There were plenty of days when I was at my grandparents house, I would go downstairs and my grandmother would be cleaning a chicken to cook. That smell alone was enough to haunt me for awhile.
Slowly but surely I stopped eating all meat and I began to really feel amazing. I never felt this great in my whole life I was down over 100lbs and my health was back on track. While being vegetarian I started to look into veganism more and more. When I would think about what eggs and milk really were I would get grossed out. It is really weird we are the only species to drink the milk of another species, let alone the fact we are the only species that drinks milk past weaning. So eggs and dairy became something that I no longer wanted to eat. I began to start eating vegan though if people ask I will tend to say I eat vegetarian because there still is some stigma associated with being vegan. I have a rule though you don't judge me and I won't judge you. I am not the type of person who will pretend to be morally superior to another, your life is that yours and you are free to live in the way you see fit.
For my own personal choice it really has encompassed everything. For health reasons, for animal rights reasons, just for the sake of compassion. It starts to become really amusing for me though when Physicians tell me I should eat meat for health reasons. North American culture really is funny, if you are low on Iron the only thing a Dr will advice you is to eat more red meat. Though there are plenty of plant based options for Iron. The other secret reason I will let you in on of why I became a vegetarian/ vegan is that in the event the planet is run by apes, or any other event where animals take over the world come to fruition then I am banking on the animals taking pity on the humans who have not and would not harm them. Obviously the last reason is the best reason.

Kale, Mushroom, Chickpea Stew
- 1 bunch kale (Chopped)
-1 Cup Mushrooms (Chopped) (I used wild for more flavour but any type works)
-1/2 can Chickpeas
-1 piece garlic (Chopped)
-1 small red onion (Chopped)
-1 Sweet Potato (Chopped) (Optional)
-3-4 Vine Ripe Tomatoes (Chopped)
Coconut Oil
Hot Pepper Flakes (Optional)
Heat a spoon of coconut oil in a big pan, on medium heat. Place the chopped onion and garlic in the pan. Cook until onion tuns translucent watch to make sure the garlic does not burn. Add mushrooms and sweet potato until cook until they have softened. Add tomatoes, chickpeas, a few pinches of salt, pepper flakes (to taste) and let simmer. At this point cook as though you would a tomato sauce, let simmer for 15mins on low. Finally add the kale stir around until the kale is softened but still a nice green. Time to enjoy!
TMI Tuesday
If you are not of the female persuasion you probably shouldn't continue to read. Any women I encourage you to continue to read.
After a lot of research into toxic chemicals that effect our everyday routines I went on a mission to remove as much as I could. I stopped using antiperspirant and went to an all natural deodorant, I changed my shampoo and conditioner. Even my makeup went through a drastic change of lineup. When I stumbled onto some articles regarding feminine hygiene, and how tampons not only contain may of the toxic chemicals I have been avoiding but they actually also soak up the good stuff created naturally by your body. I also learnt that pads are just as bad containing many chemicals. I really became appalled by what I had learnt.
I was on a mission to find something else something better. I came across a site called glad rags http://gladrags.com where they sell reusable panty liners and also menstrual cups. I know what you are thinking and I was thinking the same thing (this sounds gross). I decided to try the moon cup. I had also purchased a few panty liners incase there were leaks etc.
I am not even sure that I can put into words how amazing this actually is. I thought I was going to feel this, because tampons really make me feel uncomfortable. Unlike with tampons you can't feel it. There were no leaks at all. You should probably be comfortable with what is going on with your body, and be fine at the sight of blood, because unlike tampons this just catches it so you do need to empty the cup. You can wear it for up to 12hrs and because there are no chemicals you never have to worry about toxic shock syndrome. This contraption is not only great for your health but for the environment, and you won't have to spend all that money on feminine hygiene because this will last 5-10 years and only cost $30. It takes does take some getting used to but well worth it.

Monday Morning Blues
Monday is always the hardest day of the week for me to get out of bed and start the day. That being said I love to start my Mondays off right, turn on a record and dance like no one is watching. Probably because if someone was they would die of laughter. I have started to really get into records, I don't have a huge collection yet but the sound is so amazing I can't wait to build it up.
Breakfast Today
-Muffin from Sense Appeal. They have AMAZING vegan muffins and great coffee.
-Organic pomegranate I am not too sure if organic really matters when it comes to pomegranates but it was part of my organic fruit and veggie co-op. Mama Earth Organics whom I could not live without
-Of Course I need my coffee fix, it is a Monday. I drink almond milk cappuccinos or black french press coffee (on the weekend)

About Me
I figured my first post should say a little about myself. I live in the largest populated city in Canada you may have heard of our ill fated mayor Rob Ford lately. I work in post production, and love baseball. I have been a vegetarian for close to 10 years, it has been only recently that I have gone vegan. Do I find it difficult sometimes sure but I also feel much better since going vegan.
